Linguix Review: Is It Worth It?

This Linguix review explores how to avoid grammar and spelling mistakes. I’ll also check if Linguix is worth spending your money on.

Anyone writing articles, essays, or assignments must use a proofreading tool to double-check if their work is error-free.

During my freelance writing career, grammar tools helped me create compelling and engaging content by suggesting grammar, spelling, and readability changes. Most grammar checkers also provide constructive feedback that allows you to improve.

When I started writing content, my tool of choice was Grammarly. However, some users can't afford it since it’s one of the more expensive proofreaders.

That’s why I started looking into affordable Grammarly alternatives, and Linguix immediately caught my eye. It only costs a few dollars each month, the interface is similar to Grammarly, and it offers additional features like a plagiarism checker.

In this post, I'll go over the benefits of Linguix, the pros and cons, and if it's worth your time and money.

Who Is The Ideal Linguix User?

An honest Linguix review

Alex Lashkov, Vitaly Kukharenko, and Alex Buchmann founded Linguix in 2018. Linguix is an AI-based writing assistant available on Android, Windows, and Mac that edits your content while you type.

When creating this grammar checker, the founders aimed to improve the lives of everyone by making communication transparent and easy, regardless of whether you're using a phone, tablet, laptop, or computer.

Linguix offers several features that help you become a better writer. Some of these features include:

  • A browser extension
  • Writing templates
  • A plagiarism checker
  • Insights and analytics

After using Linguix to check multiple articles for spelling and grammar mistakes, I noticed it could benefit several groups of writers:

  • Freelance writers on a budget
  • Students
  • Website publishers

Freelance Writers On A Budget

As a freelance writer, it's essential to use an affordable yet reliable writing assistant that'll allow you to publish error-free articles.

However, many proofreaders are quite expensive, and if you're on a budget, you'll want one that works without breaking the bank.

Fortunately, Linguix spots most of your grammar and spelling errors, and you won't have to pay more than a few dollars each month.

It also offers a browser extension, which is super helpful if you don't feel like copying and pasting articles into Linguix. Instead, all you have to do is type into Google Docs or Microsoft Word, and Linguix automatically suggests improvements. This saves time and improves your editing process.

Students

Budgeting is an issue when you're a student, and buying an expensive grammar checker might not be practical, regardless of how accurate it is. With Linguix, you don't have to break the bank to get access to grammar checking.

Also, Linguix recently started offering a plagiarism checker. This is an essential feature since plagiarism is a serious offense that can lead to suspension.

But if you paste your writing into Linguix, you can make changes so it doesn't contain any unoriginal content. A slight drawback to this is that checking a document for plagiarism costs one credit, which is equal to a dollar. This can get expensive in the long run.

Website Publishers

If you're publishing content on your website, then Linguix can offer a few powerful benefits. Some of these include:

  • A customizable style guide
  • Content templates
  • A plagiarism checker

Pasting your writing into a proofreader that makes irrelevant suggestions is annoying. Maybe your proofreader doesn't recognize your casual writing style and makes suggestions to make it sound more formal.

Fortunately, with Linguix, you can customize your style guide and automatically approve or decline any words. This way, you won't have to spend time dismissing irrelevant suggestions.

Linguix also offers writing snippets a super helpful feature if you’re experiencing the dreaded writer’s block. These templates are tailored towards email, social, essay, personal, and business writing.

The last feature that's helpful for website publishers is the plagiarism checker. Posting articles on your website without checking it for copied content is risky. But if you use Linguix, simply paste in your content, and the tool spots unoriginal writing within seconds.

Now that we've covered who Linguix is for let's put the tool through a set of criteria that checks if it's a valuable option for writers.

Ease Of Use

One factor that makes Grammarly and other popular proofreaders stand out is that it's super easy to use, and there isn’t a learning curve you’ll need to overcome.

But when I started using Linguix, it reminded me of Grammarly. The interface is simple and powerful. To start using it, head over to Linguix.com, sign up for a free account, and once you're in the dashboard, you can paste your text. Here you'll also find options like:

  • Previous documents
  • A writing coach
  • Advanced checks
  • A style guide

These are all simple features that make your life as a writer far easier. So in terms of usability, Linguix is an effective tool.

Accuracy

Accuracy is by far the most important factor to consider when looking for a proofreader. You want to be sure that your tool of choice caught all typos.

After using Linguix to check several articles, I can safely say it's a practical option if you want basic corrections like spelling and grammar. However, Linguix isn't the best at spotting wordy sentences and rewriting them. On several occasions, I'd purposefully type a sentence that's difficult to read, and Linguix wouldn't spot anything.

When I pasted a previous article into Linguix, it caught 20 errors.

You’ll notice that Linux does an excellent job at spotting all my basic mistakes, but it can't spot more advanced issues.

Pricing

The affordability of Linguix is the most significant factor that caught my attention. For software that offers similar features to Grammarly, I never thought it would be this affordable.

When signing up for the premium version, you'll find two plans:

  1. Linguix Premium costs $18.95 per month or $96 per year
  2. Linguix for Teams costs $10 per month for each member

With Linguix Premium, you can access features like:

  • A paraphrasing tool
  • Content shortcuts
  • A writing research library
  • Writing insights on the go

If you decide to get the Linguix business plan, you'll access all the features in the premium plan and more. These extra features include:

  • Team management
  • Customizable style guide
  • Real-time analytics
  • Account roles and permissions

This makes Linguix a powerful tool for those who employ writers, customer support teams, and marketers.

My Favorite Features

Nobody wants a tool that only offers grammar checks. That’s just boring. You want something that provides other helpful features which streamlines your writing and publishing process. When using Linguix, these are a few features that stood out to me:

  1. It offers an advanced plagiarism checker
  2. Linguix provides a free plugin for Chrome, Mozilla, Firefox, and Edge

Linguix Offers A Plagiarism Checker

As a freelance writer or student, using a reliable plagiarism checker is a must. It allows you to check for accidental duplicate content, and you can swap around a few words to lower your plagiarism score. This prevents any penalties given by search engines.

Linguix Provides A Free Google Chrome Extension

A browser extension is one of the best tools for writers since it streamlines your editing and publishing process, saving time.

Consider installing the add-on if you don't want to copy and paste your work from Google Docs or Microsoft Word into Linguix every time. This handy tool lets Linguix check your writing in Gmail, Google Docs, LinkedIn, and WordPress.

Areas Of Improvement

However, after using Linguix, there are a few areas where I'd like them to offer more flexibility and advanced features.

Linguix Don't Offer An Unlimited Plagiarism Checker

If you're a teacher or website publisher and you're checking many documents for unoriginal content, then Linguix might not be the best option. For every check you do, you'll need to pay one dollar.

This might not sound like much, but it can add up to hundreds of dollars after a few months. If you're looking for a plagiarism tool that offers unlimited checks, consider Grammarly, Plagiarism Checker X, or Copyscape.

Linguix Only Spots Basic Mistakes

The biggest drawback to Linguix is that it only spots basic spelling and grammar errors. Compare that to Grammarly, where it checks for style, readability, and structural writing problems.

Consider proofreaders like Grammarly and Ginger if you're looking for a tool that spots more advanced issues.

My Testing Criteria

When testing Linguix and writing this review, I looked at the following criteria to see if I should recommend it to my fellow writers.

  1. Ease of use
  2. Accuracy
  3. Flexibility
  4. Functionality
  5. Affordability
  6. Extra features

Linguix meets all these criteria except for accuracy. When checking my work, it spots almost all basic grammar and spelling errors. However, it doesn't spot advanced issues like wordy sentences and structural problems.

I'd like to see Linguix put more effort into developing its tool, so it spots advanced issues that Grammarly and ProWritingAid do.

Why Trust Us?

When I started freelancing, tools like Grammarly and Hemingway helped me write clearer and more engaging content. It spotted most of my errors and gave me the confidence to keep improving my writing skills.

That's why I started buying, testing, and reviewing multiple writing assistants over the last few months. I'll recommend many of these tools while advising against others.

When I started testing Linguix, I found that it's easy to use, flexible, and it spots most of your basic spelling and grammar errors. Linguix also offers additional features that I found helpful when writing and editing. These features include its customizable style guide, plagiarism checker, and browser extension.

Every writer needs a proofreader that isn't only accurate but affordable. It gives you peace of mind knowing there are no grammatical errors or plagiarism issues when you publish content or hand in your assignment.

In short, Linguix is a practical option if you're looking for an affordable proofreader that offers advanced features like a plagiarism checker and a customizable style guide.
