Grammarly is one of the most popular grammar checking tools because its goal is to ensure that all users can clearly and efficiently communicate regardless of education level or writing skill. It’s available on iOS, Mac, Android, Windows, and the Grammarly desktop app.

Max Lytvyn, Dmytro Lider, and Alex Shevchenko founded Grammarly in 2009, and now, around seven million people are using it daily. Many famous companies like Dell, Expensify, Cisco, and Trulia also use Grammarly. 

In addition to an accurate and easy-to-use tool, Grammarly also offers features like:

Linguix is a new proofreading software founded in 2018, but it’s already competing with established grammar checkers like Ginger, Grammarly, and ProWritingAid.

Alex Lashkov, Vitaly Kukharenko, and Alex Buchmann created Linguix, and their goal is to provide free and paid users with an easy-to-use tool to improve communication. This way, people didn’t need to spend weeks or months learning grammar rules.

According to its website, Linguix checks 1.2 million texts per month, and over 99% of students, parents, and teachers report an immediate improvement in grades after using the tool.

An accurate proofreader is essential for every student since it’ll allow you to spot mistakes in your writing within seconds. You can also check for plagiarism so you know your assignments are 100% original.

However, as a student, you’re probably trying to save money and can’t afford to pay a high monthly subscription. This is where Linguix comes in. Linguix isn’t only accurate but affordable, making it a practical option for students.

Casual Writers

If you’re a casual writer looking for a grammar tool that’ll spot mistakes, then Linguix is for you. It offers similar features to Grammarly but at a lower cost. 

For example, if you struggle with structuring sentences, Linguix offers a paraphrasing tool. Simply paste in a sentence, and Linguix will rewrite it. With this tool, you won’t have to spend time learning how to structure sentences properly.

Linguix also offers a writing coach which detects patterns of repetitive mistakes. So, for example, if your child tends to write in the passive voice, the AI will pick up on that and suggest articles and techniques that’ll help them avoid this mistake.

Now that we know who Linguix is for let’s compare both tools using set criteria to see which one is better.

Ease Of Use

The first criteria I looked at is usability. Nobody wants a writing assistant that’s difficult to use. Fortunately, Grammarly and Linguix offer a simple interface that’s easy to use. Once you’re finished writing, copy and paste your work into the software, and on the right, you’ll find suggestions.

When using both tools, you’ll also find a plagiarism checker on the dashboard, allowing you to check your work for unoriginal content. After using Grammarly and Linguix, I can safely say that it’s super easy to use both.

Accuracy

The next criteria I looked at is accuracy. This is where Grammarly shines. Grammarly uses artificial intelligence to read through your document and spot spelling, readability, grammar, and structural problems.

However, Linguix doesn’t accurately check for all these issues. It mainly focuses on typos and grammar but doesn’t consistently spot readability and style problems. 

After pasting a previous article into Linguix, it found 20 issues.

When I pasted the same article into Grammarly, it spotted 31 errors.

Unlike Linguix, which mainly spots grammar and spelling errors, Grammarly looks at readability, style, structure, and other advanced writing problems, making it a more accurate tool.

Winner: Grammarly

I’ve been using Grammarly since I started my writing career, and it helped me create better content. However, if you’re on a budget, Grammarly can seem a bit expensive. With Grammarly, you can choose between three payment plans:

2. $59.95 every three months
3. $139 per year

The most significant factor that draws people towards Linguix is its affordability. Linguix offers two plans. A premium plan and a team plan:

This makes Linguix a better option if you’re looking for a writing assistant on a budget.

What surprised me about Grammarly and Linguix is that they aren’t just spell checkers. They provide extra features that writers find helpful. These features include:

Grammarly’s email feedback feature helped me when I started as a writer. It tracks the work you paste into Grammarly, and at the end of every week, it sends you an email showing your most common mistakes and how to improve.

Linguix Offers A Paraphrase Tool

In addition to being a proofreader, Linguix offers a paraphrasing tool. Here you can paste in your writing if you think it doesn’t read well. Linguix uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to rewrite your sentences.

Areas Of Improvement

Linguix and Grammarly are practical options for writers, teams, and students; however, there are some areas they should focus on improving:

• Grammarly lags when you paste long walls of text
• Linguix should focus on spotting advanced issues

Grammarly Lags When You Paste Long Pieces Of Text

I noticed that Grammarly tends to lag after I paste in long-form content. This can be inconvenient if you’re trying to meet a tight deadline.

Also, if you’re an author, then pasting your entire novel into Grammarly might not be practical. Instead, you’ll need to copy and paste a few chapters at a time to avoid lagging.

I’d like to see Grammarly improve its processing speed in the future, so the software doesn’t lag. 

Linguix Should Focus On Accuracy

Although Linguix catches most spelling and grammar errors, it isn’t the best at consistently spotting more advanced issues like sentence structure, style, and readability. 

I think Linguix should improve its software to spot advanced problems. If you’re looking for a tool that spots these issues, consider Grammarly, Whitesmoke, or Ginger software.

My Testing Criteria

When testing both tools and writing this comparison, I looked through the following factors to determine if they were valuable options for writers.

1. Usability
2. Accuracy
3. Flexibility
4. Affordability
5. Reliability
6. Integration

Grammarly meets these criteria; however, Linguix should focus on spotting more advanced issues. I’ve pasted several documents into Grammarly and Linguix, and Grammarly always spots more issues.

Except for accuracy, Linguix meets all other criteria. It’s easy to use, flexible, affordable, and offers advanced integration features.

Why Trust Us?

I’ve been writing for a living for a few years now, and no tool helped me more than Grammarly.

Using its accurate AI and email feedback feature, I developed as a writer, and my content’s quality improved over time. It also offered advanced features like a plagiarism checker that made my editing process so much easier.

However, I came across Linguix a few months ago, gave it a shot, and was surprised by the features it offers. Although it isn’t as accurate as Grammarly, it provides me with many of the same tools that Grammarly does but at a lower price.
