Jasper AI Review: Is This AI Writing Tool Worth It?

AI content creation software allows you to publish blog posts, social media ads, and email newsletters within seconds.

Unfortunately, most AI writing tools are inaccurate, and the content produced sounds robotic. But I started using Jasper.AI a few months ago to publish blog content and found it surprisingly accurate.

So in this post, I’ll go through everything you need to know before signing up for Jasper AI. I’ll talk about my experience, the pros and cons, and if it’s worth your time and money.

What Is Jasper AI?

Formerly known as Jarvis, Jasper AI is artificial intelligence that creates copy and content within seconds. Founded by Dave Rogenmoser in 2015 while living in Montreal, Jasper aims to streamline the content creation process. So, you have more time to focus on marketing your business and bettering your product or service.

Jasper is so good at producing quality content that several well-known companies use it. These include:

The developers of Jasper even consulted direct-response copywriters and content creators to ensure the output from this AI writing assistant produced is accurate.

Jasper AI Pricing

Jasper AI offers two pricing plans:

1. A starter plan costs $49 per month
2. Boss Mode costs $99 per month

Create up to 20,000 words per month in 20 different languages with the starter plan. You can also invite five additional users, making it perfect for small teams producing short copy like social media ads.

But with the starter plan, you don’t access the SEO mode or plagiarism checker. For this, you’ll need to upgrade to Boss Mode.

With Boss Mode, invite your entire team, and your monthly word limit increases from 20,000 to 50,000. But you’ll also find handy features like:

• Google Docs style editor
• Access to all Jasper templates
• Maximum content lookback
• Priority support

Boss Mode is a good option for larger teams who need an AI writer for long-form copy like articles, landing pages, and email newsletters.

After using Jasper AI to create blog posts and newsletters, I feel like it’ll empower the lives of:

Freelance Writers And Content Creators

Content creation software isn’t replacing writers; instead, they act as a tool that helps writers produce better work within a shorter time frame.

Let’s say you’re writing a social media ad. Without AI, you’ll need to spend hours brainstorming ways to appeal to customers’ pain points. This process is even more challenging if you’re going through a creative rut.

But with Jasper, simply type in your business or product name and description. I’ve noticed that the more detailed this description is, the better content Jasper will create. 

After this, choose how many pieces of copy you’d like and select “Generate.” If you want to double-check that this output is original, paste it into Jasper’s plagiarism checker.

It’s not perfect, but with some tweaks and edits, it’s publishable on social media channels and can help drive conversions.

Marketers

Jasper offers over 50 marketing templates to help you create copy when you’re facing writer’s block. These templates include:

• AIDA

• Blog outlines
• Video titles and scripts

So if you want to generate copy that’ll be compelling to your readers but you don’t know where to start, opt for the AIDA template. AIDA stands for attention, interest, desire, and action. Jasper writes copy that first catches the reader’s attention, sparks their interest, and triggers desire, ultimately leading to action.

Or, if you’re a content marketer and writing an intro for an article, consider the PAS or problem, agitate, and solve template. Simply write a description of what your post is about, and Jasper creates an intro for you that’ll stand out to your audience.

Business Owners

If you’re a business owner on a budget and can’t afford to hire a copywriter or marketer, consider Jasper AI. It’s like your own copywriter creating compelling copy for you, and it only costs $49 per month.

You can create blog posts, email newsletters, product descriptions, and landing pages with this plan. You won’t have to spend months or years mastering the art of persuasive writing.

For example, let’s say you want to write product descriptions for a new product you’re launching on your e-commerce store. With Jarvis, simply type in the name of your product and a short description, and it’ll produce compelling writing.

Video Creators

For example, if you’ve already recorded a video but are struggling to write a catchy title, opt for the Jasper video title generator. Select how many headlines you’d like, and pick the title that suits your video best.

You can also use Jasper to create poll questions for your audience. This allows you to gather feedback and determine what you’re doing well and where to improve.

Now that we know who can benefit from Jasper, let’s look at how it works.

How Does Jasper Work?

Using Jasper is easy. First, go to Jasper.ai and select “Try For Free.” Sign up for an account using your email, Google, or Facebook and Jasper will take you to the dashboard. You’ll notice it’s sleek and straightforward. 

On your dashboard, there are templates like:

• AIDA
• Long-form assistant
• Content improver
• Blog post outline
• Google Ads headline

Once you’ve selected a template, enter your product or company name, product description, and tone of voice. 

This tone of voice feature is something most AI writers don’t offer. But it lets you tailor your copy towards your audience. Choose if you want your writing to be excited, confident, happy, or formal. 

After adding a tone of voice, select how many pieces of copy you want to produce, and click “Generate.” On the right, you’ll find all the outputs that Jasper created. Pick which is best for you, and copy and paste it into your tool of choice like Surfer SEO, WordPress, or Google Docs.

Now let’s look at my three favorite Jasper features.

50+ Content And Copywriting Templates

The feature that stood out to me the most was the endless amount of content and copywriting formula, and templates. There are templates for:

• Blog outlines
• Content rewriters
• AIDA
• PAS
• Cold email

Simply head over to the dashboard to access all Jasper templates. If you can’t find one you’re looking for, type it into the search bar on top, and it’ll pop up. So regardless of your content or copywriting needs, Jasper has you covered.

One of my favorite templates is the Jasper rewriter. With this tool, simply paste the existing copy, and Jasper produces readable spun content that passes the best plagiarism checkers.  

These tools are useful if you like repurposing content for blog posts, social media, ebooks and more. Here, Jasper rewrote an intro for our review on JotterPad.

This is perfect for repurposing content. Let’s say you have a few YouTube videos that your audience found helpful. Copy these transcripts into Jasper, and it’ll rewrite your content. You can then post it on your website and social media channels.

SEO Content Generators

Jarvis is more than just software that generates content. It optimizes your writing for SEO, giving you the best possible chance of ranking first. This type of content is a chore to write and Jasper can save content marketers, bloggers and SEO writers time.

Not only are the articles produced optimized for SEO, but Jasper AI is also compatible with Surfer SEO. Simply head over to workspace settings and turn on SEO Mode within Jasper to connect the two tools. Next, create a new document, log into your Surfer SEO account, refresh the page, and you’re good to go.

I also like using Jasper to generate short meta descriptions and SEO titles because it rarely needs extra work, and the output is SEO optimized. 

Content Recipes

When you go to your Jasper dashboard, you’ll find a recipes tab on the left. This feature gives you a basic outline to follow that’ll allow you to start writing immediately without much structuring. This is perfect for new writers looking to improve. There are recipes for:

• Blog posts
• Cold emails
• Non-fiction book introductions
• Facebook ads
• Product reviews

So let’s say you want to write a blog post but don’t know where to start. Simply click on the blog post recipe, and it’ll take you to a detailed outline. So all you need to do is fill in the blanks. 

It provides an interesting template for creatiging a non-fiction book outline, although I wouldn’t recommend using AI software to write an entire book.

Areas For Improvement

Although Jasper is a practical tool for writers, marketers, business owners, and video creators, a few drawbacks exist:

• It doesn’t carry over your words to the next month
• You must fact check the copy produced

Words Don’t Carry Over From Month to Month

If you signed up for a Jasper plan and didn’t use your allocated words for the month, you can’t carry it over to the following month.

I’d like Jasper to allow users to carry over words they aren’t using. This way, there isn’t a rush to produce copy towards the end of the month. And if you have a few slow months, you can build up your words for when business gets busy again.

AI Copy Requires Editing and Fact-Checking

When Jarvis generates writing, it tends to make assumptions, so you’ll need to proofread the work and replace specific paragraphs and sentences.

For example, let’s say you’re producing ad copy for your brand; Jasper AI might say you’ve worked with companies like Google, Facebook, and IBM. So you must read through the output and swap out these company names with businesses you work with.

This isn’t a deal-breaker, but it can be a hassle to proofread all the copy and content that Jasper generates.

Jasper Competitors

Now let’s see how Jasper faces off against other AI content creation tools like:

• Copy AI
• Copysmith
• Copyshark
• Wordtune
• Write Sonic

Copy AI is similar to Jasper since they both offer a large variety of templates and work in various languages like Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. 

The main difference is, Copy AI is slightly cheaper, clocking in at $35 per month, and they’ll design a custom plan around your team. So if you’re managing a large team, Copy AI is a better option for you.

Copysmith is another popular tool in the AI writing industry, and it’s in the same pricing bracket as Jasper. However, Jasper has a more flexible free trial, so it’s easier to get used to the platform. Jasper’s long-form content is also more accurate than Copysmith’s.

The third competitor is Copyshark. It matches Jasper in terms of templates offered because Copyshark has over 50 templates. Like Copysmith, it’s accurate when generating short-form content. But if you’re rewriting or producing blog posts, you’ll have to make significant edits.

Wordtune and Write Sonic are comparable to Jasper.ai in terms of features and pricing. However, we found the usability and accuracy of Jasper exceeded these two apps.

Jasper AI Review Criteria

When testing and reviewing Jasper to see if it’s a valuable tool for content creators, I used the following criteria:

• Accuracy
• Ease of use
• Affordability
• Additional features

After using Jasper for months to streamline my content creation process, I find it meets all these criteria.

Jasper’s content is accurate, and you’ll only have to make minor edits. You can also change the tone of voice which helps match the copy with your target audience.

When logging in for the first time, I noticed Jasper AI is super easy to use. The dashboard is simple, and all the templates are laid out neatly. The content production process is also seamless. Simply select the template you’d like to use, enter the product name and description, and you’re good to go.

I like that Jasper AI manages to produce this quality work while being affordable. The starter plan costs $49 per month, and if you want something that lets you create 50,000 words per month, it’ll only set you back $99.

The last criteria I looked at was the additional features. Jasper AI offers a plagiarism checker, Google Docs style editor, and Surfer SEO compatibility. This takes your content creation experience to the next level.

Why Trust Me?

I’ve been using Jasper AI for several months to create outlines and intros for blog posts when I’m facing writer’s block. Although the output isn’t perfect and needs some work, it’s a solid starting point.
