Amy Winehouse Lyrics and Journal Entries To Be Published In New Book

A new book entitled ‘Amy Winehouse: In Her Words’ is set to publish previously unseen handwritten lyrics and journal entries from the late songwriter.

The book, which will be published on August 31, will also contain personal photos and has been described by Amy’s parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse, as a “beautiful new collection of Amy’s notes and musings.”

They have written the foreword for the title, which is being published by HarperCollins. Winehouse’s parents also said that the book “shows another side of Amy – her fun and witty side.”

The book’s publication is scheduled just two weeks before what would have been the talented singer’s 40th birthday.

Lisa Sharkey of HarperCollins discussed the reasoning behind publishing the book on this date. She said: “To fully understand Amy Winehouse on what would have been her 40th birthday, this extremely personal and revealing book, filled with her private thoughts and emotions, uncovers the heart of the artist who dreamed big and cared deeply.”

“We could not be prouder to publish this cherished keepsake and are grateful to her parents, Janis and Mitch, for sharing their daughter in this sensitive beautiful book.”

All of the book’s royalties will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Winehouse passed away in July 2011 at the age of 27 after an accidental overdose. At the time of her death, Winehouse had released two albums, ‘Frank’ and ‘Back to Black.’

Lioness: Hidden Treasures was her third album, which was released posthumously. If you liked this post, you might be interested in learning about how Johnny Cash’s lyrics have been compiled in a book.
