What Pro sells is the part the free tools cannot do. The submission tracker lives in one browser, so the thirty submissions you logged on your laptop are invisible on your phone. The manuscript analyzer forgets your numbers when you close the tab, so you cannot see whether this draft is tighter than the last one. The free alert covers one genre, and plenty of writers work in three. Pro fixes those four things and nothing else.

Checking this browser for your license key...
When you subscribe, Stripe tells us a payment happened and we email you a license key. You paste that key once in each browser you use, and that browser is Pro. There is no sign-up form, no password to forget, no session to expire, and no login page anywhere on this site. The key is the whole system.
That has one honest downside: if you lose the key and lose access to your email, we cannot identify you. It also has a real upside: we hold no passwords, because there are none to hold. If you lose the key but still have your email, the box above sends it again.
Syncing stops and the tools go back to how they work for everyone else. Nothing is deleted from your devices: your tracker, your saved words and your report history stay exactly where they are, and the free tools keep reading them. You have 30 days to pull your synced copy back down and export it. The site does not hold your work hostage, because holding a writer's submission log hostage over four dollars would be a disgrace.
If you edit the same submission on your phone and your laptop at the same time, sync keeps the latest change and the other one is lost. It merges entries by id, so different entries added on different devices all survive, but a simultaneous edit to the same entry is a genuine race and we would rather say so than pretend it is not.
