Pressidium Review 2019: Is This Web Hosting Provider Worth It?

Pressidium Review 2019

In this 2019 Pressidium review, I explain if this web hosting provider is any good and how they can help you.

I tested this managed WordPress hosting provider extensively while writing this Pressidium review and I use it to host Become a Writer Today.

I’ll explain if Pressidium is right for you and the various plans available for business owners.

This post contains some affiliate links meaning I earn a small commission if you sign up. I only ever recommend tools I’ve used or tested personally.

But first…

Who is Pressidium?

This web hosting provider launched in 2014 and is run by specialist WordPress engineers and developers. The company’s headquarters is in the United Kingdom, and it’s less well-known than other managed WordPress hosting providers.

Pressidium specialises in managed WordPress only. The company prides itself on offering enterprise-level hosting to smaller businesses and cites its security and speed as key reasons to sign up.

Who is Pressidium For?

Pressidium works with a number of Fortune 500 and other well-known companies including Fujitsu and Cornell University.

It’s comparable to other premium hosting providers like Flywheel, Pagely, Cloudways, Media Temple, WP Engine and Liquid Web.

Pressidium is less comparable to budget hosting providers like Bluehost because it  costs more. This WordPress web hosting provider is more expensive than other web hosting providers and isn’t ideal for those on a tight budget…but you get more bang for your money.

More on that later in this Pressidium review.

How I Use Pressidium

I always recommend WordPress for bloggers and business owners.

A WordPress developer recommended Pressidium to me. He explained Pressidium hosting is fast, reliable and ideal for WordPress sites with lots of traffic.

At the time, I was hosting my blog on the Rainmaker Platform. They were moving away from supporting bloggers and small businesses with their managed WordPress solution. I was also frustrated with the limitations of their in-house WordPress solution. I couldn’t, for example, install some WordPress plugins.

So on the recommendation of my developer, I migrated my WordPress site to Pressidium. The migration was relatively painless, and I didn’t experience any noticeable site downtime or decline in traffic.

Pressidium Web Hosting Plans

This web hosting provider offers four different managed WordPress plans.

As a new customer, you get two months of free web hosting. You also get 60-day money back guarantee, which is more than the usual 30-day guarantee offered by other hosting providers.

At the time of writing this Pressidium review, new customers could claim two months of hosting for free.

Personal Plan

The Personal plan costs $42 per month billed annually, or $49.90 month by month. You can install three WordPress sites with this plan.

Pressidium will also migrate your old site for you. If you don’t have a domain name, you’ll need to purchase this elsewhere.

You can also claim 10 GB of storage and attract up to 10,000 visitors per month.

Don’t worry if you get too many page views in a given month. Pressidium won’t charge you for sudden increase in traffic or limit your site if this happens. You can also upgrade or downgrade your plan as your need or traffic changes.

The Professional Plan

The Pressidium Professional Plan costs $125 per month billed annually, or you can pay $149.90 month by month. For this, you get up to 10 WordPress installations and can attract up to 100,000 unique visitors prolonged.

You also get 20 GB of storage. This hosting plan is ideal for most small to medium businesses, and it’s what I use.

Business Plans

The Pressidium Business Plan costs $250 per month billed annually, or you can pay $299.9 per month.

You can install 25 WordPress sites and attract 500,000 unique website visitors per month. This plan is  ideal only for large businesses or people with dozens of niche websites, hence the name.

Pressidium offers additional custom plans for sites with millions of monthly visitors and for business owners to acquire unlimited WordPress installations.

Business Plus

The Pressidium Business Plus plan costs $500 per month billed annual or you can pay $599 each month.

You can install up to 50 sites, claim 40 GB of storage and attract one million visitors per month. Again, this plan is ideal only for very large businesses.

Additional Features

Every Pressidium WordPress plan comes with:

  • A content distribution network for speed: There’s no need to install a WordPress cache.
  • An SSL certificate for security: I was able to install this with one click via the Pressidium dashboard.
  • A staging environment to build test sites: It’s unusual to get a staging environment on basic hosting plans, so kudos to Pressidium!
  • Automatic daily backups for peace of mind

The Pressidium dashboard is clean and easy to use. You can set up a new WordPress site with just one click. The dashboard displays monthly traffic stats, and you can submit a support ticket.

Pressidium will automatically update your WordPress site too.

Pressidium Security

Pressidium keeps a list of blocked plug-ins that could damage your site or compromise it and will prevent you from installing them.

This is useful for business owners who don’t want to worry too much about security but still feel assured that their site is safe.

This WordPress hosting provider will also block a user from logging in if it identifies numerous failed attempts from a suspicious IP address.

When I tried to install a cache plug-in, Pressidium alerted me that they already provide this service.

Support

While writing this Pressidium review, I found the support team to be excellent. You can contact them using a ticket system or a live chat. They reply within minutes.

I raised several dozen tickets over the past 24 months and found the support staff to be knowledgeable and willing to go the distance to fix my issues.

However, you can’t ring them up on the phone to ask questions like you can with Siteground. That’s far from a deal-breaker, but it might put off some people.

This past November, prior to writing this Pressidium review, I couldn’t log into my Pressidium dashboard on a given day. (I could still access my WordPress dashboard OK, and my site didn’t go down).

When I contacted support via email, support said there was a bug with their billing system, and they gave me a month of hosting free.

Sweet.

Pressidium Speed

Pressidium has data centres around the world including in Japan, North America, Asia and Europe.

This means the site can handle an increase in traffic without performance been affected. They also offer additional features such as load balancing and multiple caching.

In short: Load times are lightning fast.

You get access to a content distribution network as part of your subscription.

Pressidium also offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which appears to be above the industry standard. I haven’t had any issues with my site being down while a Pressidium customer.

What You Don’t Get

Unlike other hosting providers, Pressidium doesn’t offer email accounts, and you can’t register a domain name with them. If you need an email account, I recommend G Suite.

Although they’ll help you map your domain name, this extra step might put off those setting up an online business for the first time.

Pressidium does one thing and one thing well: Managed WordPress hosting.

Who is Pressidium For?

Pressidium is for creative professionals who know what they want—a professional WordPress site!—and are prepared to pay more to get it.

It’s also ideal for business owners with multiple WordPress websites who want to handle more web traffic without compromising on performance. It’s less suitable for those new to creating online businesses, a blog or WordPress websites.

Compared to Siteground, Pressidium represents a premium managed WordPress offering at the top end of the market.
