Plagiarism Check Review: Is This Tool Accurate?

This post goes over what you need to know before using Plagiarism Check. Learn more from our Plagiarism Check review below.

An effective plagiarism tool allows you to spot and correct any accidental plagiarism that can lead to search engine penalties. If you’re a student, it helps avoid disciplinary action.

Unfortunately, many checkers are inaccurate, leading to unsuspecting penalties. So, after using different plagiarism tools to scan my content, I decided to test and review PlagiarismCheck.org.

This article covers everything you need to know about Plagiarism Check and why it is one of the best plagiarism checker tools out there. I’ll run it through multiple tests to see how accurate it is while going over my experiences with the tool.

What Is Plagiarism Check?

Plagiarism Check review

Founded in 2011, PlagiarismCheck.org aimed to create easy-to-use software that helps teachers and students spot duplicate content and avoid penalties. Since 2011, Plagiarism Check has served 77,000 users, scanning over nine million pieces of work in 72 countries.

With Plagiarism Check, you won’t have to worry about accidental plagiarism, and you can improve the quality of your content with a few clicks.

Plagiarism Check partners with renowned institutions like:

  • Redhill School
  • University of Zambia School of Medicine
  • Ave Maria Law School

What I like about Plagiarism Check is it doesn’t just look for an exact match. It will take it a step further and find copied work even if someone spins it, swaps out certain words for synonyms, or rewrites sentences in passive voice.

Plagiarism Check Pricing

Plagiarism Check offers four individual plans:

  1. Basic costs $5.99
  2. Light costs $9.99
  3. Standard costs $25.49
  4. Premium costs $45.49

Plagiarism Check offers four individual plans

The basic plan allows you to check 20 pages at the cost of 30 cents per page. This is perfect for anyone looking to give Plagiarism Check a shot without spending too much money. There are also no daily limits, and you access 24/7 support.

After this, consider signing up for the light plan. You can scan 50 pages for under $10, which works out to 20 cents per page.

With the standard plan, you lower your price per page to only 17 cents and can check 150 pages.

Lastly, the premium plan allows you to scan 300 pages for 15 cents per page. Keep in mind that these aren’t monthly subscriptions. You can buy a plan and use your credits for months to come. So, you don’t have to rush because your checks won’t expire.

Plagiarism Check also offers a 14-day money-back guarantee so if you don’t like the checker for some reason, simply request your money back.

Who Is Plagiarism Check For?

After using Plagiarism Check to ensure I eliminate accidental plagiarism, I noticed it can benefit the lives of:

  • Teachers
  • Students
  • Anyone employing writers

Teachers

If you’re a teacher, accurate software like Plagiarism Check is a must-have. It lets you see if your students spun an article or simply changed a few words, making it easier to spot academic dishonesty.

With other plagiarism software, you won’t be able to find original content if students simply swapped out certain words for synonyms or pasted it into a paraphrasing tool.

Plagiarism Check uses advanced algorithms to spot spun work. This way, even if your students didn’t copy an existing article word for word, you can still find duplicate content.

Students

If you’re writing essays and assignments in college or high school, I’d highly recommend Plagiarism Check because it gives you peace of mind knowing your work is original.

Sometimes we’ll write something unique, but it’ll still flag some paragraphs if your educator pastes it into a plagiarism checker. This is called accidental plagiarism, and it’s a significant factor behind many disciplinary hearings.

Accidental plagiarism also occurs when you don’t quote and cite your research correctly. Fortunately, with Plagiarism Check, you can access a citation generator that works in different styles like:

  • APA
  • MLA
  • Chicago

You can access a citation generator that works in different styles using the tool

This citation creator allows you to choose different sources like books, journals, or web pages. Once you’ve picked a reference, you can add the author name, book title, page number, publisher, and year published. This way, all your citations are correct, and there’s no chance of accidental plagiarism.

Anyone Employing Writers

As a business owner, plagiarized content can negatively affect your relationship with customers and lower SEO rankings.

So, if you’re employing a few writers to help create articles, email newsletters, and ads, then Plagiarism Check ensures the work you publish is original.

Since it can spot spun content, you can filter out any freelance writers who copied long walls of text into a paraphrasing tool and sent you the results.

Now, let’s look at how Plagiarism Check works.

How Does Plagiarism Check Work?

To sign up for Plagiarism Check, simply head over to PlagiarismCheck.org, and click the icon “For Students.” Next, you’ll see a button that says “Check 1 Free Page.” This is Plagiarism Check’s way of allowing new users to get a feel for the platform without any risk.

I’d suggest checking a free page by copying and pasting your text and selecting the “Check Plagiarism” button. If you’re happy with the accuracy, sign up for one of the plans.

Once you’re signed up, go to your dashboard, click on “New Check,” and paste your text in the blank box. From here, select “Proceed.” Plagiarism Check will present you with all the duplicate issues and give a plagiarism score. It also offers downloadable reports that you can share with your team.

If you want to create citations for assignments, go to “Citation Generator” in the menu on the left. Here, you can enter details like:

  • Writing style
  • Source
  • Author
  • Editor
  • Book title
  • Date published

After you’ve entered the relevant information, select the “Generate” button on the right, and your citation will be ready.

Now that we know how Plagiarism Check works, let’s look at some features that will help you write with confidence.

An Accurate Plagiarism Software

What sets Plagiarism Check apart from other tools like Grammarly and Copyscape is that it doesn’t just check for an exact duplication. It’ll find copied content even if someone swapped out words for synonyms, changed a sentence from active to passive voice, or put it through a spinning tool. This gives the most accurate results possible.

It also checks for self-plagiarism. This is a big issue for many students since everyone has words and phrases they use often.

When pasting my article comparing Grammarly and Copyscape into Plagiarism Check, it gave me a score of 63%.

This tool also checks for self-plagiarism

But, even after I pasted it into a spinning tool, Plagiarism Check still spotted unoriginal work.

An accurate plagiarism software
Plagiarism Check is also one of the most straightforward tools

Plagiarism Check flagged this as plagiarism because all the spinning tool did was swap out some words for synonyms.

Plagiarism Check is also one of the most straightforward tools. It doesn’t offer an unnecessary amount of features. Everything is simple. When logging in, you’ll find a plagiarism checker, your documents, and a citation generator on the left-hand side. These are the only options available. So, you won’t have to go through a learning curve.

A Plagiarism Extension

This plugin integrates with apps like Google Classroom, which helps streamline your learning process.

If your school or college is currently using Google Classroom to create and manage assignments, then Plagiarism Check can make your life easier because you don’t have to copy and paste work into the web app every time.

Simply use the Plagiarism Check extension to get a similarity score within seconds, and you’re good to go.

A Citation Generator

A significant reason why unintentional plagiarism is so common in schools and universities is that many students don’t know how to properly create citations.

Also, if you’re an author or blogger and have a large following, these incorrect citations can negatively affect your image. Fortunately, Plagiarism Check makes creating references super easy.

On the left, you’ll find a citation generator. Select this option, and you’ll be able to choose a style; enter the book title, author’s name, date published, and citation type. This ensures you reference the original source correctly, and your academic papers won’t be flagged for plagiarism.

Although Plagiarism Check is an effective tool for students and writers, there are a few areas for improvement.

Areas For Improvement

Here are some areas I think Plagiarism Check should focus on improving:

  • There’s no bulk checker
  • It doesn’t have a mobile app

There’s No Bulk Checker

When you first sign up for Plagiarism Check, you’ll find that the dashboard is clean. However, I feel like it’s a bit too basic. It only offers a plagiarism and citation tool.

For example, Copyscape offers advanced features like a bulk checker, offline checker, private index, batch search, and WordPress logo integration. It has these features, but the software is still easy to use.

I’d like Plagiarism Check to start introducing a bulk checker. This will allow users to compare their content to offline work and check multiple documents simultaneously.

If you’re looking for a plagiarism detector that offers more advanced features like a bulk checker, consider Copyscape.

Read our Copyscape review.

It Doesn’t Have A Mobile App

Unlike other online plagiarism checkers like Grammarly, Plagiarism Check doesn’t have a mobile app. This might not be a dealbreaker for you if you only use it at school or in the office. If you’re always on the go and looking to complete work on your phone, you will probably want a more flexible tool.

I’d like Plagiarism Check to develop a mobile app allowing students to write and check for plagiarism on their tablets or phones.

If you’re looking for a grammar check and plagiarism detection tool that offers a mobile app, opt for Grammarly.

Plagiarism Check Review Criteria

When testing and reviewing Plagiarism Check, I used the following criteria to help me decide if it’s a valuable tool for writers and students:

  • Accuracy
  • Flexibility
  • Ease of use
  • Additional features

After using this software to check my content before sending it to clients or posting it online, I found that Plagiarism Check is accurate and easy to use. Still, it can improve the flexibility, functionality, and features offered.

Plagiarism Check uses advanced algorithms to spot copied work, even when it’s spun. The dashboard is also clean, so there isn’t a learning curve.

With that said, if it wants to compete with industry leaders like Grammarly and Copyscape, it should introduce a mobile app to improve flexibility and extra features like a deep search and WordPress integration.

Why You Can Trust Me

I’ve created blog posts and email newsletters for around three years now, and I’ve experimented with countless writing tools. These tools included plagiarism checkers like Grammarly, ProWritingAid, and Copyscape.

After checking several articles in Plagiarism Check, I can safely say it’s up there with the best. Although it’s a bit basic, the plagiarism checker will spot duplicate work when it’s spun.
