Best Landing Page Software: Create Landing Pages That Work! (2024)

What is landing page software and which is the best landing page software in 2024? Find out in this review.

Do you want to know the best landing page software in 2022?

Or would you like an overview of some of the best landing page software available today?

In this article, I will explain what landing page software is and how it can help your creative business.

I will also review my favorite landing page software options and explain how you can use them. You’ll find this article useful if you’re a blogger or interested in earning more money as an online writer.

What is a Landing Page?

A website visitor might read a blog post, click on the header or footer, use the navigation links and so on. They could also leave the web page and bounce from your site altogether (Shock, horror!).

This is fine if the web page is a blog post or explains what your website is about, but not if you want to convert your traffic into subscribers, leads or customers.

If you’re trying to increase sales or grow your email list, you’re losing potentially engaged traffic. A landing page will help you achieve a specific goal.

Unlike a web page, a landing page typically has one call to action. A landing page visitor can do only one thing, e.g., buy now, subscribe, sign up, and so on.

You can use landing pages to convert paid or organic traffic from your guest blog posts, advertising campaigns and so on. Authors can also use landing pages to capture the details of readers of their books and send them helpful updates.

Why Do You Need Landing Page Software?

Landing page software enables you to create landing pages within minutes. Typically, you use these web pages for things like encouraging opt-ins or potential subscribers to join your email list or for increasing sales of your product or service.

In the past, you had to code these pages by hand, and that took hours. That’s time you could spend writing or blogging.

In 2021 landing page software enables you to create these pages and track the actions people take while there.

Using this software, you can customize the look and feel of your landing pages so they match your website design.

What’s more, landing page software today connects to business tools you rely on like WordPress or your email service provider.

Now, let’s review the best landing page software available in 2021. I’ve used each of these tools to varying degrees in my business, and I’ll explain how they work, their key features, advantages and disadvantages.

Leadpages

Leadpages is a powerful, yet customizable small business tool that you can use to create landing pages and to sell your products or services.

The Leadpages team offers more than 160 professional landing page templates built with conversions in mind.

You can also quickly change the look and feel of these pages using a WYSIWYG editor. It connects to almost all popular email service providers including MailChimp, AWeber, Infusionsoft, and ConvertKit.

I’ve used Leadpages extensively over the past few years, and it’s my default landing page software for many reasons.

It connects directly to WordPress, so it’s simple enough to create a landing page for your website or blog posts.

The Leadpages standard plan starts at $17 per month if you pay in advance for two years. The monthly standard subscription costs $37 but lacks many of Leadpages’ best features.

Premium features include Leaddigits (which enables people to opt-in via SMS), pop-ups, and checkout pages. Premium customers also get telephone support and advanced A/B testing.

The main advantages of Leadpages are its emphasis on conversions and the premium features above.  It’s more than a landing page creation tool.

The main disadvantage is you need a larger budget than the cost of a WordPress theme and a willingness to pay annually or for a two-year subscription to get the best value.

Using Leadpages also has its quirks, and you’ll need to embrace a small learning curve. For example, occasionally I’ve updated my landing pages and found it hard to revert my changes.

Your WordPress theme

Many premium WordPress themes today, like those offered by StudioPress and Thrive Themes, include landing pages.

What’s more, if you want to change the look and feel of the landing page, you probably need to tinker with HTML or CSS. It’s also more difficult to get support for customizing landing pages for your WordPress theme.

However, if you need a landing page quickly and easily and you don’t have much of a budget, WordPress themes are a great option for your small business.

The biggest advantage of using your default landing page is you don’t have to pay for it. You can get a landing page that matches your website’s theme up and running relatively quickly and do what you want with it.

The biggest disadvantage of using your WordPress theme for landing pages is it won’t have advanced features. For example, you might not be able to do things like A/B testing or choose from landing pages based on conversion rates.

Clickfunnels

Clickfunnels is more than landing page software.

It enables you to connect a series of landing pages and build out a sales or marketing funnel. If you’re a blogger and want to create an online course, Clickfunnels will help you sell it.

In fact, co-founder Russell Brunson and his team claim Clickfunnels can replace your entire website. I don’t recommend anything but WordPress as a website platform, but it’s a powerful tool all the same.

I’ve used Clickfunnels on and off over the past 18 months. Starting at $97 per month, it’s the most expensive option in this review.

You can create a landing page, optimize it for conversions and run A/B tests. You can choose from dozens of landing page templates or funnels, although not as many as Leadpages offers.

Clickfunnels connects to many popular email service providers and has useful analytics so you can see how your funnel is performing.

It’s useful if you have a product or service you want to sell, understand how sales and marketing funnels work and are prepared to test every part of your funnel until you generate a return on your investment.

The biggest advantage to using Clickfunnels is it simplifies building out a sales funnel and can potentially replace some business tools you already use.

The biggest disadvantages are you will need a larger budget to get the most use from it and master attracting traffic (organic or paid) to your landing pages. You must also take time to learn how to build a funnel using Clickfunnels.

OptinMonster

OptinMonster is a budget-friendly landing page software I tested. It offers a number of templates you can pick from and alter so they match your website design.

OptinMonster offers additional features that encourage email subscribers, such as scroll boxes, pop-ups and so on. You can see the example in the bottom right-hand corner of this website.

(Just open this landing page software review in your web browser using incognito or private mode if you can’t see it).

It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to use OptinMonster. I read the tutorial and watched several of the videos. If you get stuck, OptinMonster offers customer support via a ticket system.

The standard version starts at $29 per month if you pay annually. The professional version costs $79 per month and is useful if you have more than one site, lots of web traffic and want to personalize your landing pages. You can also take advantage of a 14-day free trial before subscribing.

OptinMonster’s biggest advantage is the balance it strikes between affordability and features.

The biggest disadvantage of OptinMonster is that creating a page involves a few more steps than Leadpages or WordPress. You also have to be comfortable with tools like Google Analytics to get maximum value from it.

Instapage

Instapage landing page software is a powerful rival to Leadpages and Clickfunnels.

You can pick from more than 194 templates and customize their look and feel. Like many tools in this review, the templates work great on a desktop or mobile.

Instapage works well with many email service providers such as MailChimp, AWeber, and particularly Seva (formerly ConvertKit).

The core version of Instapage starts at $69 per month. For $99 per month, you can unlock additional features like unlimited A/B testing, Instablocks, and heat maps.

Instablocks enables you to create a component such as a header, a CTA, and so on for your landing page once and reuse it on other pages. This feature saves time when building new pages.

Heat maps are useful if you want to see mouse movement, clicks, and scroll depth to a landing page and then improve the page.

I particularly like how Instapage works directly with ConvertKit. You can create a landing page using this tool from inside Seva, provided you are a customer of both services.

Like many of the tools in this review, you can take out a 14-day free trial.

The main advantage of Instapage is its powerful features that rival Leadpages, like advanced heat maps and Instablocks.

The biggest disadvantage is it’s not as easy to customize your landing pages compared to other tools in this review. You might need to use some CSS, for example. Unlike with Leadpages and Clickfunnels™, you can’t create checkout pages.

How to Buy the Best Landing Page Software

If you’re unsure which landing page software to pick, I recommend taking out a free trial of at least one of the tools in this article before signing up.

Consider your needs as a blogger or creative professional, your budget and what features you really need.

If you’ve never created a landing page, start with one of the more budget-friendly alternatives and use it for a month.

When you’re feeling confident and your budget is larger, you can always try a more advanced tool like Leadpages or Clickfunnels.

Whatever your choice, allocate at least an hour for learning the tool and connecting it to your service providers such as Google Analytics or your email service provider.

Your next job is to send traffic to your landing page. You could, for example, link the landing page via the menu on your website or set up a Facebook ad. Or you could write guest articles for other sites that link to your new landing page.

Before your free trial lapses, you should have an idea as to whether the landing page software you tried is right for your business.
