Welcome to Become a Writer Today.
I’m Bryan Collins, a non-fiction writer from Ireland.
If you’re new to the world of writing, if you want to become more creative or if you’re looking for a way to finish what you started, this site will help you.
It contains the practical information you need to become a writer.
Can You Finish Writing What You Started?
Many writers struggle to find time to finish their projects.
I know, because I’ve been there. I was a terrible journalist for years, the kind who almost always missed his deadlines.
Now, I know better.
After careful observation of how other writers succeed, I’ve written a number of practical posts that will help you write.
Here are two:
A Handbook for the Productive Writer
I want you to start and finish your book. So, I self-published a Handbook for the Productive Writer: 33 Ways You Can Finish What You Started.
These 33 proven strategies will help you share your ideas with the world.
If you join the join the insider list, I will send you exclusive chapters from this book.
I’ve Published My Book, What Next?
The next step is to tell people stories about your work, and build relationships with them.
A blog is a great place to start. To help you, I’ve detailed the top blogging tools and software experts use and which I trust.
If you want to learn how to make a living from your writing, you’ll find my posts about marketing your work helpful.
Does Marketing Your Art Make You Feel Uncomfortable?
Marketing your art shouldn’t feel like wearing a pair of itchy underpants. Tweet this
If you feel uncomfortable about marketing, consider ‘Do you like to tell stories?’
When you promote your work, that’s what you’re doing.
You’re telling your audience and potential customers stories about your books and how your ideas will help them.
The best writers do this all the time.
They send preview copies of their books to newspapers to review, they go on tours, and they give interviews to journalists.
They listen to how their audience responds and they use this information to become stronger and better creators.
We do this because we know if we don’t, nobody will find our work.
If you’re a writer today, you can control almost everything about your work if you’re brave enough.
That’s exciting for your audience, and it’s even more exciting for you.
Let’s Get to Know Each Other
What good is a blog if it’s not a little personal?
If you want to build lasting relationships with your readers, tell them something honest about yourself.
Reveal your flaws and failures. Let them know where you came from. Yes, honest writing is hard work, but it will help you bond with your readers.
Here’s my dirty secret:
I was a terrible procrastinator, and sometimes, I work on a single idea to the point of obsession ;).
